60° Y piece merge jig for SCH10S pipe
Y piece marking sleeves sized for schedule 10 stainless pipe, 1" to 3.5" NPS. They're aimed at turbo manifold merges and collectors, where two runners join before the turbo flange and the fit-up has to be tight enough to TIG without filling gaps. Each size is a pair: a tail sleeve for the pipe the merge feeds into, and a branch sleeve you use on each of the two runners.
In SCH10S, the wall thickness makes a poorly matched merge obvious: you end up with a step inside the joint that disturbs the flow. Marking all three pieces from a matched pair keeps the profiles consistent.
Which version do I need?
Choose this version for NPS schedule 10 pipe. It won't fit tube of the same nominal size, because 1.5" NPS pipe is 48.3 mm OD while 1.5" tube is 38.1 mm. For mandrel exhaust tube, use the OD tube version.
Using the jig
Hold the tail sleeve on the tail pipe and scribe round it, then do each runner with the branch sleeve. Cut and dress to the lines, and the runners sit at 60° on the tail, ready to tack.
