It also has a flat face across the outside of the bend, with an opening that marks the merge cut for an X pipe.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTrim your two bends to the angle the X needs, then mark the merge on both from the same block, so the two halves match.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eWhich version do I need?\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis listing covers \u003cstrong\u003e1.5D and 2D bends\u003c\/strong\u003e. Pick your tube size, then the bend radius. 1.5D means the centreline radius of the bend is 1.5 times the tube's outside diameter, and 2D is twice (the table below gives both in millimetres). For tight 1D bends there is a \u003ca href=\"\/products\/x-pipe-mitre-angle-elbow-cutting-jig-block-1d-od-tube\"\u003eseparate 1D block\u003c\/a\u003e. If you only need to mark X pipes and not cut to angle, the \u003ca href=\"\/products\/x-pipe-merge-marking-jig-od-tube\"\u003eX pipe marking jig\u003c\/a\u003e does that for less.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThese blocks are sized for \u003cstrong\u003eOD tube\u003c\/strong\u003e: mandrel bends sold by their outside diameter. They don't suit SCH10S weld elbows, which are made to a different bend radius.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eCutting a bend to angle\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003col\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eOpen the block and lay your bend in the bottom half.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003ePush the key into the slot for the angle you want.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eSlide the bend round until its end sits against the key, then drop the top half on. Magnets hold the two halves together.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eMark round the bend at the end face of the block, or cut flush to the face. The piece between the key and the face is the angle on the scale.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eWhen you're done, the key stores in the block.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ol\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eMarking an X pipe\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003col\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eClose the block round your bend. You don't need the key for this.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eThe outside of the bend shows through the opening in the flat face. Scribe round the edge of the opening.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eTake the bend out and cut to the line. The cut is a flat one sixth of the tube diameter deep.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eMark and cut the second bend the same way.
